I am happy to know that, the Sir Arthur Cotton Nursery Farmers Association is contemplating to bring out a diary for the New Year 2024 with useful technical information for nurserymen.
I am sure this diary would serve as a major resource book as well as a guide to nurserymen, farmers and extension workers in production and supply of quality plant material.
Inadequate availability of quality planting materials has been a deterring factor in development of horticulture sector. The impact of investments in horticultural research can be realized only if farmers have better access to high quality planting material of the improved varieties at reasonable costs at their production sites. This void can be filled up by production & supply of quality planting material by nurseries to unlock the potential of horticulture in the State & in the Country. Kadiyam in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh has developed over the years as a major native Nursery & Export Hub in the Country.
| appreciate the efforts and initiatives taken by Sir Arthur Cotton Nurserymen Association which has been successful in meeting the demand of supplying quality planting material in the country and also created niche market in exports. The Department of Horticulture would provide all required support to develop this Nursery Hub.
I convey my best wishes to all the members and | am sure that the New Year 2024 will bring prosperity and open up new vistas for Nurserymen in the State.
